✦ This Started in a Kitchen

A Love
Story on Wheels.

Souped Up isn’t a startup. It’s our return to the kitchen and the kind of food that brings people together.

The Family Crew

"We feed souls, not just stomachs."

The Roots

Long before Betty Soup. Long before farmers’ markets at sunrise. Long before the camper and the chalkboard menus.

This started in the Scratch Fresh Foods kitchen.

A stove turned on early. A pot simmering. People gathering without needing an invitation. Food passed across counters. Conversations that lasted longer than the meal. The kind of place where everyone felt welcome without anyone having to say it out loud..

That feeling never left us.

Over the years, life pulled us into different directions, different careers, different responsibilities. But the kitchen was always the place we came back to. The place where we felt most like ourselves. The place where we watched how powerful food could be when it was made with care and shared with intention.

Souped Up is the long way back to that.

Now, it lives inside a vintage 1974 Shasta camper named Betty Soup. A rolling kitchen run by our family, serving comfort food the way it was always meant to be served. Slowly. Carefully. With heart.

Not rushed. Not mass produced. Not impersonal.

Just good food, made well, for good people.

Why Comfort Food?

"Comfort food asks you to slow down. It fills more than your stomach. It reminds you that you’re welcome here. This isn’t fast food. This is food that looks after people."

Giving Back Matters

"Souped Up runs on the belief that small acts of care matter. A soup stone, a comfort box, a paid-forward meal. These are simple ways we can help neighbours look after neighbours."

The Dream Team

Sonya

The Visionary & Executive Chef. Sonya has spent most of her life feeding people. From running a restaurant to working farmers’ markets at dawn, she learned early that food is one of the simplest ways to make people feel welcome. Souped Up is her return to the kitchen, where care, comfort, and community all start in the same pot.

Cam

The Culinary Legacy. Sonya's son has been food-obsessed since he could walk. Following in his mother's footsteps, Cam has spent the last 10 years in professional kitchens, perfecting the art of food made with love. He is the technical heart of Betty Soup.

Nelson

The Architect of Comfort. Nelson is the calm behind the scenes and the reason Betty Soup runs as smoothly as it does. From logistics to flavour experiments in the kitchen, he makes Sonya’s ideas real and keeps the whole operation grounded, steady, and full of care.

Cam Nelson

"Comfort tastes better when it’s shared."
